Celebrate the Chinese New Year at Crepes Village
Looking for a place to enjoy a great meal with friends and celebrate the Chinese New Year?
Well, if you love crepes and pancakes, then Crepes Village, located in the Food Court at Burwood One, may be a good local and very affordable option for you.
Crepes Village offer freshly cooked pancakes with a yummy variety of savoury or sweet fillings.
The range of pancakes includes the delicious golden pancake roll, Kim Chi chicken, braised pork belly, braised beef and braised egg and pork, strawberry kiss, choco banana crème, nutella delight and walnut crème.
The menu also includes cold dishes, congees and soup.

Basketball reaches out to youth
The coaching staff at Nunawading Basketball plan to target up to 50 schools in the region in 2019.
They will conduct coaching clinics at primary and secondary schools with giveaways and promotional material about junior clubs competing at Nunawading Stadium.
Nunawading will begin their after-school program for boys and girls aged from three to 12 in the first week in February. Come along and learn the basics on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday afternoons.

Interested in learning how to play tennis?
Well, Next Gen Tennis’s Trent Cobb, who is the new professional club coach at East Burwood Tennis Club in Burwood Highway, is the man to help develop your skills.
Trent provides coaching for all age groups and standards including groups for beginners young and old. He also conducts adult classes, private and semi-private lessons and group sessions for Fitbit Cardio Tennis, a low impact, fun and social way to get moving and suitable for all fitness levels.

Yunnan cuisine at Burwood One
Authentic Chinese Yunnan Green Leaf Feast and hot pots – comprising ingredients from the southwestern Chinese province of Yunnan and a first in Australia – are the bill of fare at Colourful Yunnan restaurant, Burwood One.
The Green Leaf Feast is the traditional banquet of Yunnan minority people, served on banana leaves. Dyed with natural pigments from plants, in the middle of the Feast is colourful glutinous rice, which is surrounded by local snacks, grills and cold dishes from Yunnan minorities.
Famous for the delicate flavour by exotic Yunnan wild mushroom (not by MSG), the hot pots are available with a selection of items from ranges covering meat, seafood and vegetable.
Other popular items on Colourful Yunnan’s menu are grilled dishes of barramundi, beef tongue, pork trotter, pork belly slice and cuttlefish and cold dishes such as spicy noodle with termite mushroom, braised pork ear, shredded chicken salad, Jingpo ghost chicken and spicy duck tongue.
Colourful Yunnan is a 180-seat fully licensed restaurant.

Girl Guides in fundraiser
Raising funds for the new Monash Children’s Hospital in Clayton through participation in the Moomba Birdman Rally is one of the initiatives of the Glen Waverley Girl Guides group.
For girls five years and older, the group engages in a range of fun and activities – indoor and outdoor – while completing challenges and learning new skills and abilities.
Activities include hiking, camping, cooking, organised games and badgework.
Glen Waverley Girl Guides meet every Wednesday from 6.30 to 8pm at the Guide Hall in Bogong Avenue, Glen Waverley.

‘Go’ for girl’s netball!
‘Go’, a girl’s netball competition for beginners, is being held on Monday nights after school hours at Sportlink’s Indoor Sports Centre in Hanover Road, Vermont South.
The Centre is the home of the Whitehorse Netball Association, which oversees the Saturday competition with 200 teams from 18 clubs, as well as competitions for mixed and ladies, ladies and all abilities.
The mixed and ladies comp for girls and boys over 14 years is conducted on Thursday nights, the ladies only comp is held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9.30 to 12 and the all abilities program is staged on Friday nights.

Kidzplay just for kids
Kidzplay On Highbury, located at 514 Highbury Road, Glen Waverley, near the corner of
Blackburn Road is one of the oldest established early learning centres in the region.

Little Aths a runaway success
Little Athletics Nunawading, which conducts meetings at the Bill Sewart Athletics Track at the East Burwood Reserve, is looking for participants for the new season.
It is open for boys and girls aged from five to 15 years and is held on Saturday mornings.
They compete in running events over all distances from 70 to 1500 metres, hurdles, relays and fields events including long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, javelin, discus and pole vault.
Little Athletics Nunawading has been very successful at both State and Metropolitan level and has been the stepping stone of the careers of a number of prominent local sportsmen and women.

The Smith Family aids children’s education
The Smith Family, the well known independent non-profit organisation, has a strong focus in supporting disadvantaged children and their families, using education as a key tool.
Sponsorship opportunities are available through The Smith Family’s Learning for Life program which provides for education essentials including books, uniforms, shoes and educational excursions.
The Smith Family also provide learning programs such as Homework Clubs.
Sunday School at Ascension
Music, art, craft and fun are among the key ingredients of the Godzone program at the Anglican Church of The Ascension in Blackburn Road, East Burwood.
Godzone caters for children from five to 16 years and is conducted during the four School terms.
The group meets every Sunday morning during the 9.30am church service. It studies the major seasons of the Church, the Parables and heroes from the Old Testament.
